Is every person's lifespan, provision, and deeds predestined before they are born?

The text of Ibn Mas'ud's hadith in Sahih Muslim clarifies that the creation of man is gathered in his mother's womb for forty days as a nutfa (sperm-drop), then he becomes an alaqa (clinging-clot) for a similar period, then a mudgha (chewed-lump) for a similar period. After that, an angel is sent to blow the soul into him, and is commanded to write four words: his sustenance, his lifespan, his deeds, and whether he will be wretched or felicitous. These four matters are written for every human being before his birth.
