Does the husband's oath take effect if his wife leaves after he said to his brother: "If she leaves, I am divorced," and then he allowed her to leave?

If a husband conditions his wife’s divorce on her attending an event, and she attends it, then divorce occurs according to the majority of jurists, even if he did not intend it. An expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yamin) is required according to Ibn Taymiyyah if he did not intend divorce. The husband’s retraction and permission for her to go does not affect the ruling according to most scholars, because conditional divorce, in their view, cannot be retracted. Whereas Ibn Taymiyyah holds that retraction terminates the condition. The opinion of the majority is the one adopted for fatwa.
