What is the ruling of the Sharia concerning a 65-year-old woman who suffers from her husband's continuous mistreatment and has been expelled from her home, and she now does not wish to return to him, nor does he want her? It is forbidden for a wife to seek divorce or leave her husband's home without a valid reason or his permission. However, if she is harmed by remaining in his house or under his marital authority, she has the right to seek divorce and return to her family to escape her husband's harm and beatings. The husband must fear Allah and treat her kindly. If his harm persists, she has the right to demand the annulment of the marriage, and he must either comply or repent.
