Is the hadith, "We have returned from the minor jihad to the major jihad," authentic, meaning the struggle against one's self?

The Hadith "We have returned from the minor jihad to the major jihad" was narrated by Al-Bayhaqi with a weak chain of transmission. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said that it is the words of Ibrahim ibn Abi Abla and not a Hadith. Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi narrated it with the wording: "The servant's struggle against his desires." Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that this Hadith has no basis.
