Is it permissible to give one's parents zakat money, given that the questioner is a woman, and is she obligated to spend on them, and what is the scholars' evidence for the impermissibility of giving zakat to ascendants or descendants?

A Muslim is obligated to spend on his ascendants (father, mother, grandfathers, grandmothers) and his descendants (children, grandchildren), and it is not permissible for him to give them zakat; because their maintenance is obligatory upon him. If he gives them from zakat, it is as if he has given it to himself.

Two cases are excluded from this: 1. If the ascendant or descendant is in debt (gharim), it is permissible to give him from zakat, because settling the debt is not obligatory upon the father or the son. 2. If the zakat payer's money is not sufficient for their maintenance, then maintenance is not obligatory upon him at that time, and it is permissible for him to give them from zakat.
