What is the ruling on paying Zakat to the father, the grandmother, the orphaned granddaughter, and the paternal aunt?

It is not permissible for a son to pay his Zakat to his poor parents if he is obligated to spend on them, because that would relieve him of his maintenance obligation, and the benefit would return to him, making it as if he paid Zakat to himself. However, it is permissible to pay Zakat to them if he is not obligated to spend on them.

The same ruling applies to grandparents and descendants, no matter how far removed; it is not permissible to pay Zakat to them if their maintenance is obligatory upon him, but it is permissible if it is not obligatory.

As for other relatives, such as brothers, sisters, paternal uncles, paternal aunts, maternal uncles, and maternal aunts, it is permissible to pay Zakat to them, unless the Zakat payer is the one who is already supporting them.
