Performing congregational prayer in student housing with the adhan (definition) and iqama is a good and correct action. However, it is better and more rewarding to pray in the mosque, due to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "A man's prayer in congregation is multiplied twenty-five times over his prayer at home or in his marketplace." Going out to the mosque raises one's status and atones for sins. The angels supplicate for those who pray there, and it has been reported that the one who goes out to the mosque is guaranteed by Allah.
