Is it permissible to narrate good sayings from the scholars of the Righteous Predecessors, even those known for "Sufi eccentricities," and attribute them to them by name?

There is no objection to citing the statements of scholars who were criticized for some of their views or beliefs, if these statements conform to the Qur’an and Sunnah. However, excessive citation of such statements may mislead the general public and cause them to read their books without discernment. Imam Ahmad warned against associating with scholars of this type, such as Al-Harith Al-Muhasibi, fearing that people might be influenced by them, despite Al-Harith's virtue and knowledge.
