Is it permissible for the one who gave a gift to buy back his gift that he bestowed upon his brother?

It is not permissible for the giver to buy back what he has gifted to his brother, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Do not buy it back, even if he gives it to you for a dirham, for the one who takes back his charity is like a dog that returns to its vomit."
