Does blood discharge after an internal examination break one's fast, or is it permissible to continue fasting?
Regarding the insertion of something into the woman's private parts: The Hanafis held that she breaks her fast if nothing of it remains outside, or if something remains but its inner tip is wet. The Malikis said she breaks her fast if what entered was liquid. The Shafi'is and Hanbalis are of the view that she breaks her fast absolutely. Whereas the Zahiris, some Malikis, and Ibn Taymiyyah are of the view that it does not break the fast. Therefore, it is preferable to perform the examination at night, and if she is compelled to do it during the day, the safer course for her is to make up the fast later.
As for the blood discharged after the examination, it is vitiated blood, not menstruation, and does not affect the fast. However, the insertion of anything into the private parts does affect the fast.
