Knowledge of the Prophet's companions, peace and blessings be upon him, is too vast for a fatwa or even volumes, and many books have been written on this topic, to which the inquirer can refer. Among them are: "Al-Isabah fi Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" by Ibn Hajar, "Usd al-Ghabah" by Ibn al-Athir, and "Al-Isti'ab" by Ibn Abd al-Barr. Among contemporary books are: "Hayat al-Sahabah" by Kandahlawi, and "Suwar min Hayat al-Sahabah" by Al-Basha.
