Should a worshiper join the imam in prostration if he arrives while the imam is prostrating, or should he wait for him to rise?

If a worshiper enters the mosque while the Imam is praying, he should join him regardless of the Imam's current posture, based on what was reported from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "When you come to the prayer and we are prostrating, then prostrate and do not count it as anything, and whoever catches a rak'ah has caught the prayer," and "When you come to the prayer, then observe tranquility. Whatever you catch, pray, and whatever you miss, complete," and "If one of you comes to the prayer and the Imam is in a certain state, let him do as the Imam does." Ibn Hazm reported a consensus on the recommendation of joining the Imam in any state.
