Do good deeds become worthless and sins forgiven when committing major sins such as watching pornography, listening to music, and publishing women's pictures for financial gain? And does the verse: "If you avoid the great sins which you are forbidden to do, We will remit from you your [minor] evil deeds and admit you to a noble entrance [to Paradise]" apply to these actions? And how can one stop doing them?

The believer may fall into sin due to heedlessness, desire, or weakness, but he quickly repents and seeks forgiveness, as Allah Almighty says: "And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins — and who can forgive sins except Allah? — and [who] do not knowingly persist in what they have done. Those — their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] doers." As for persisting in sins, it is a cause for a bad ending, as Allah Almighty says: "So let those beware who dissent from his order, lest fitnah strike them or there come upon them a painful punishment." One afflicted with sins must hasten to sincere repentance and seek forgiveness, for the one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. Whoever dies persisting in his sins and has not associated partners with Allah, his matter is left to the will of Allah Almighty, as He says: "Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills," and he will not abide eternally in the Fire. Persisting in a minor sin makes it a major sin, and there is no minor sin with persistence, nor a major sin with seeking forgiveness. It is obligatory to repent and abandon sins, and whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.
