Is it necessary to make up the fast of the day if the fasting person breaks their fast, thinking that the time for Maghrib has begun upon hearing a sound, which later turns out not to be the Maghrib Adhan?

If the time for Maghrib prayer begins and the adhan (call to prayer) is delayed, there is no harm in breaking the fast, nor is there a need for making up the day, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the night approaches from this side (east) and the day recedes from this side (west) and the sun sets, then the fasting person breaks his fast." However, if a fasting person breaks their fast before the adhan of the muezzin who calls at the beginning of the time, then, according to the majority of scholars, they must make up that day. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and some of the Salaf (early Muslims) held the view that making up the day is not obligatory in this situation.

Nevertheless, as advice: for someone who ate and then it became clear to him that the sun had not yet set, he should make up that day to avoid disagreement, follow the majority, and out of caution for his religion.
