What is the ruling on one who believes that customs, traditions, and norms suffice for consulting the people of fatwa, that religion has no place in human relations—rather, it causes embarrassment—and that the best law is the law of Allah?

What the man says is slander and a great fabrication. It is an apostasy from the religion of Muslims and an act of disbelief in the Lord of the Worlds, because Allah revealed the Books and sent the Messengers so that people might refer to His law for judgment, not to their customs and traditions. And whoever believes that the rule of other than Allah is equal to His rule, or better, or that it is permissible to refer to other than Allah for judgment, then he is a disbeliever. And the rulings of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) are everything that contradicts the rulings of Allah, and Allah is the best of judges.

As for the man's slander that the Sharia has brought hardship upon people, this is misguidance and a lie; for the religion came with ease, tolerance, and the removal of hardship. It is obligatory to educate this man and enlighten him, and if he does not respond, then he must be shunned.
