Is a wife held accountable for mistreating her husband who falls short in providing her material, emotional, and legitimate rights, threatens divorce, while she fears for her children from family disintegration and is considering seeking a Khulʿ?

If the husband is abusive in his companionship and neglects his duties, he is violating the Quran and Sunnah. It is advised to be patient with him, to frequently supplicate for him, to gently advise him, and to seek help from people of sound judgment. Treating him in kind is permissible according to some scholars, but it may further complicate the problem. The financial support of the wife and children is obligatory upon the husband, and he must fulfill his wife's right to spend the night with him.
