Is it permissible for one who intended to fast two hours before Fajr, believing herself to be pure from menstruation, then found yellowish-orange discharge after sunrise, to break her fast and make up that day?

A woman recognizes purity by one of two signs: dryness or the white discharge. If a woman sees her usual sign of purity (complete dryness or the appearance of the white discharge), then the subsequent discharge of brownish or yellowish fluid has no effect, because it is not considered menstruation and does not invalidate fasting. This is based on the statement of Umm Atiyyah: "We did not consider the yellowish or brownish discharge after purity as anything." However, if she intends to fast before seeing her usual sign of purity, then the brownish or yellowish discharge is considered menstruation, and fasting is not valid with it. She must perform ghusl after the brownish or yellowish discharge ceases and purity is confirmed, based on the statement of Aisha: "Do not be hasty until you see the white discharge."
