Is it permissible to pray behind an imam who commits immoral acts, steals mosque property, deliberately performs ablution poorly, disrespects prayer times, and gives the call to prayer without ablution?

First: Accusations of theft against the Imam must be supported by conclusive evidence. If his transgression of theft is proven, then praying behind him is valid according to the soundest opinions of scholars, although it is disliked by the consensus of the Imams.

Second: If the Imam does not perform ablution (wudu') properly by omitting some of its Sunan (recommended acts), then praying behind him is valid. However, if he omits any of the obligatory acts of ablution, then it is not permissible to pray behind him for those who are aware of his condition, and the prayer of anyone who prays behind him is invalidated.

Third: The Imam's disrespect for prayer times is unclear. If he delays the establishment of the prayer, this does not prevent the validity of praying behind him. However, if he takes the prayer outside its prescribed time, then one should not pray behind him.

Fourth: Calling the Adhan (call to prayer) without ablution is permissible and valid. Ablution is recommended for the Adhan but not a condition for it.

Fifth: The Imam shouting at someone offering him advice does not prevent the validity of praying behind him. It is advisable to be gentle when offering him advice.

Sixth: If the Imam does not accept advice, and there is proven evidence of what compromises his imamate, then the matter must be reported to the authorities.
