What is the ruling on buying and selling gold through Al-Rajhi Bank's gold wallet, with the intention of preserving wealth and selling the gold when its price rises? Is there any doubt (shubha) in that?

It is permissible to buy and sell gold through banks if the Sharia conditions are met. This means that the bank must genuinely own the gold, or act as an agent for the seller with the gold in its possession, and immediate mutual possession (qabd) must be possible. The bank entry of the monetary amount into the customer's account is considered immediate qabd. It is also permissible to buy and sell gold through Al-Rajhi's portfolio, because the bank owns gold storage facilities and undertakes the agency and the legitimate qabd. This is what specialized scholars have affirmed.
