What is the ruling on sisters cutting ties with their only brother who harmed them financially and emotionally after their father's death?
This worldly life is a fleeting enjoyment, and the destiny of people is either to Paradise or Hellfire. A Muslim should not make this world his greatest concern and thereby cause the severing of kinship ties for its sake. Maintaining kinship ties is obligatory, and severing them is one of the major sins. If a brother commits injustice, he should be advised kindly, reminded of Allah, the consequences of injustice, the obligation of repentance, and the restitution of wrongs. It is permissible to boycott him if the boycott is beneficial; otherwise, it is better to leave him be and conciliate him, while continuing to supplicate for his guidance.
