What is the ruling on approving the adoption of a Muslim grandchild suffering from a chronic illness for which treatment is unavailable in his country of residence by a non-Muslim family, knowing that approval means he stays with them, and disapproval means his return to his country where the necessary treatment is unavailable?

It is not permissible to agree to the request to separate a child from his Islamic environment and allow him to live with non-Muslims, especially since adoption is forbidden by شرعًا (Islamic law), as Allah Almighty says: "Nor has He made your adopted sons your [real] sons." You are responsible for his moral and religious upbringing and do not have the right to relinquish him. The child's illness and your financial hardship do not permit leaving him with non-Muslims for him to be Judaized or Christianized.
