Is it permissible to transplant hair taken from another person?

Hair transplantation is permissible because it is a removal of defect and not an alteration of Allah's creation. The Islamic Fiqh Academy has issued a resolution permitting hair transplantation when hair falls out, especially for women. Likewise, Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen issued a fatwa allowing it, considering it a means of restoring what is missing and removing a defect. There is no difference between taking hair follicles from the person himself or from someone else.
