What is the meaning of Talhah ibn Ubayd Allah's saying: "Whoever wishes to diminish people's knowledge of his faults should sit in his house, for whoever mixes with people will have his religion snatched away without him realizing it"?

The mentioned narration was not found with its exact wording. However, Ibn Abi Al-Dunya narrated something close in meaning from Talha ibn Ubayd Allah: "Indeed, the least fault for a person is to sit in his house." Al-Khara'iti narrated it with different wording from Musa ibn Talha, from his father, who said: "Indeed, part of a man's virtue, leadership, and having fewer faults mentioned against him, is his sitting in the courtyard of his door," and he might have said, "in the courtyard of his house." The narration does not imply a complete preference for isolation. Rather, it means that one who mixes with people will have his faults mentioned more often than one who is isolated. However, mixing with people has other benefits, such as inviting people (to Islam), enduring their harm, and attending congregational prayers.
