To what extent is Jami' al-Tirmidhi authentic, and is it the third most authentic of the six books of Hadith? Can an ordinary person read it?

Sunan al-Tirmidhi is a great book, which compiles the Prophet’s hadiths, peace and blessings be upon him, arranged according to chapters of Fiqh. Its author is a حافظ (a highly knowledgeable scholar of hadith). The book is distinguished by mentioning the hadiths that are acted upon, referring to the hadiths of the chapter, and citing the opinions of scholars from among the Companions, the Tabi'in, and the Imams. It also combines narration with the 'ilal (defects) of hadith and rulings on them, and frequently uses the term "hadith hasan" (good hadith).

Scholars differ on its ranking among the books of Sunan, but the preponderant opinion is that it ranks below Sunan an-Nasa'i and Sunan Abi Dawud.

The book contains authentic (sahih) and good (hasan) hadiths, some weak hadiths, and a few fabricated ones in relation to virtues.
