1 min readAlso available in العربية

Al-Tirmidhi is Abu Isa Muhammad ibn Isa ibn Sawrah al-Tirmidhi. He was born in an ancient city on the bank of the Jihun River. He heard hadith from various shaykhs, among them Imam al-Bukhari. He was a proof-bearing Imam among the memorizers of hadith, and he authored the book al-Sunan and the book al-Ilal. Regarding al-Sunan, he said: "I presented this book of mine - meaning the book al-Sunan, known as al-Jami - to thearscholars of Hijaz, Iraq, and Khurasan, and they approved of it. And whoever has it in their home, it is as if there is a prophet speaking in their home." Al-Tirmidhi passed away in Tirmidh at the end of Rajab in the year 267 AH.
