Working in taxis is permissible in principle, but it becomes unlawful if it involves assisting in sin, such as carrying alcohol, pork, or carrion, or transporting people to a place where they will drink alcohol or commit evil deeds, due to Allah's saying: {And do not cooperate in sin and aggression}. It is permissible for a Muslim to work in such a job if compelled by necessity, to the extent of repelling that necessity, until he finds another job or earns money to buy a travel ticket to Islamic countries.
