Is it permissible for the wife to travel alone with her children to visit her family, and what should the husband do if she insists on traveling despite his knowledge that it is not permissible?

A woman is not permitted to travel without a mahram, whether it is a journey for worship or a permissible one. This is indicated by prophetic hadiths that prohibit a woman from traveling without a mahram. Travel is a source of fatigue and hardship, and it is a temptation. Scholars have agreed on prohibiting a woman's travel without a mahram, except in exceptional cases, such as a disbelieving woman who embraced Islam in a land of war, or a freed captive woman, or a woman who became separated from her companions and was found by a trustworthy man. It is not sufficient to merely drop her off at the airport and have someone else pick her up; rather, the mahram must accompany her throughout the entire journey. A wife must obey her husband in matters that are obedient to Allah, and the husband must explain the religious ruling to her gently and kindly.
