Is it permissible to participate in polls via SMS for a sum of money to enter a draw for a large prize?

There is no harm in participating in surveys if their cost does not exceed that of a regular call, and their subject matter is permissible and benefits from knowing people's opinions. However, if participation requires payment, or if the subject is something that is not religiously permissible to be surveyed about, such as forbidden relationships, then participation is not allowed. This is because the first case is considered gharar (definition) (excessive uncertainty) and maysir (definition) (gambling), and in the second case, the number of those who survey about a matter already decided by the Lawgiver increases.
