A Muslim is required to follow the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and emulate him, whether they understand the wisdom behind it or not.

Scholars have sought to discern the wisdom behind reciting aloud in night prayers and silently in daytime prayers. They suggest that the night is a time of tranquility, solitude, and inner peace, thus aloud recitation was prescribed to manifest the joy of a servant’s intimate communion with their Lord, and to ensure that the heart, tongue, and ear align with the recitation, in fulfillment of Allah’s saying: (Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for a deeper impression [on the soul] and more suitable for recitation. Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.) As for the daytime, since it is a time of people's busy engagements and much movement, silent recitation was prescribed.
