What is the ruling on supplicating for the Prophet (peace be upon him) with al-Wasilah outside of the Adhan, and is it permissible to alter the order of phrases in the reported supplications?

The basic principle regarding supplication (du'a) is permissibility, unless it involves a sin. Supplicating for the Prophet with al-Wasilah (the nearest station to Allah in Paradise) and al-Maqam al-Mahmood (the praised station of intercession) is good and permissible in instances of supplication. However, one should prioritize the established supplications first, and this particular supplication should not be general and unrestricted, but rather confined to the time after the adhan. It is essential to maintain the order of the wordings of the supplications that have been authentically transmitted in the Sunnah, due to the complete emulation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that it entails, and because altering the wordings may lead to a change in meaning. Thus, the fundamental principle concerning traditional supplications and remembrances (adhkar) is their being tawqifi (restricted to what has been transmitted).
