Is it permissible for a mother to swear an oath not to visit her son or enter his house, and to stipulate that he must take her salary monthly in exchange for her being pleased with him?

For a son to live separately from his parents is permissible and does not constitute disobedience (aqūq), nor is a son obliged to obey his mother if she demands his entire salary, especially if this would lead to the neglect of his wife’s and children’s rights. The maintenance of the wife and children takes precedence over the maintenance of the parents if the money is only sufficient for that. If his money is only enough for his own maintenance and that of his wife and children, then he is not obliged to provide for his mother’s maintenance at that time. The son must be dutiful to his mother and treat her kindly, gently and respectfully apologizing to her if she asks him for something that is not obligatory upon him, and striving to appease her.
