Some jurists have permitted this, such as the Maliki school allowing compensation for the right of pre-emption, and some Hanafis allowing compensation for official positions. Another example is a woman relinquishing her day to her co-wife for compensation. This is known as "al-ifragh" or "al-faragh" in the terminology of jurists, and it means relinquishing a right in exchange for money.
