What is the expiation for aborting a fetus conceived out of wedlock before 120 days, and does this differ from after the ensoulment, and who bears the blood money for the fetus, to whom is it paid, and how much is its amount?

The wajib (obligatory) upon whoever aborts a fetus after its formation is its diyah (blood money), and the diyah does not vary with the length of the pregnancy. There is no necessary correlation between the formation of the fetus and the insufflation of the soul into it. Aborting a fetus at any stage is prohibited except for a legitimate Shar'i excuse, due to the destruction of offspring involved.
