What is the religious ruling on the right to dispose of an orphan's money?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The guardian of an orphan's wealth is obligated to preserve it and act in the orphan's best interest. It is forbidden for the guardian to consume from it unless they are in need, as Allah Almighty says: "And whoever is rich, let him abstain [from taking a fee]; and whoever is poor, let him customarily take thereof."
