How can one deal with a disobedient wife who insists on divorce and negatively affects the children, especially after the divorce occurs, and is it permissible for the husband to request custody of the children from her?

The questioner is advised to recite the supplication reported from Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, upon affliction: "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better." The believer hopes for good from an affliction, and wondrous is his affair, for all his affairs are good. One does not know where the good lies; it may be in what one dislikes. Afflictions are decreed and written for a wisdom known to Allah, and sins may be a cause for them. Therefore, one must repent from sins, seek a righteous wife, and not regret the departure of an unrighteous wife, while preserving and raising the children.
