The answer

The method of ghusl (ritual purification bath) from nifas (postpartum bleeding) is the same as the method of ghusl from janabah (state of ritual impurity requiring ghusl). Nifas is the blood that exits after or with childbirth. Purification from it occurs either by jafaf (dryness, i.e., inserting a piece of cloth which comes out clean) or by al-qassah al-bayda (the white discharge).

So, when a woman sees a sign of purity, she performs ghusl and prays. The maximum period for nifas is forty days, according to the preponderant opinion. If she sees the white discharge before the completion of forty days, she performs ghusl and prays. If the bleeding returns before forty days, it is still considered nifas. There is no difference between a C-section and other births; the blood exiting after it is nifas blood.
