What is the correct action to take when one feels phlegm during prayer?

If someone feels phlegm while praying, they are allowed to try to extract it and dispose of it, provided they are careful not to intentionally utter two or more letters [sounds]. If it does not reach the outer part of the mouth and they swallow it, that does not affect the validity of the prayer. However, if it reaches the outer part of the mouth, they should not intentionally swallow it. Rather, they should dispose of it in a tissue or similar item. This is considered a minor movement that does not affect the validity of the prayer. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would spit into his garment while he was praying.
