How can one remain steadfast in prayer and acts of worship after returning to Allah and feeling aversion towards sins?

The most important reasons for steadfastness in righteousness are: striving against the self and compelling it to obey Allah, for whoever guards the limits of Allah and His rights, Allah will guard him in his worldly life and his religion, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Guard Allah, and Allah will guard you." Also among them are: supplicating to Allah and seeking refuge in Him, striving to acquire Islamic knowledge and attending gatherings of remembrance, and keeping company with the righteous who assist in obedience.
