What is the ruling on touching packages containing alcohol and processing their shipment at work, and what is the ruling on working in this field?

Alcohol is the mother of all grave sins. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed alcohol in ten ways. The ruling on this work is prohibition if it involves direct delivery of alcohol, because it is a form of cooperation in sin. Allah Almighty says: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression" [Al-Ma'idah: 2]. The young man must leave this job unless he is compelled and cannot find any other, in which case it becomes permissible for him on the basis that necessities permit the prohibited. However, once he is no longer in need of it, he must leave it.
