What should I do when my family has forced me to work in an internet cafe?
The Internet has beneficial and harmful aspects, and controlling patrons of Internet cafes and shops is difficult. The default is to prohibit such places, as corruption predominates in them, and averting harm takes precedence over acquiring benefits. It is permissible to work in an Internet shop if its patrons can be controlled and prevented from accessing forbidden websites and content, and this is obligatory in obedience to parents. However, if these controls are absent and it is not possible to control them, then it is not permissible to work there, and obedience to parents is not obligatory at that point, because the avenues of sustenance are many, and whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect.
