What is the ruling on one who experiences yellow discharge after defecating and wishes to leave before the prayer time, not knowing when this discharge will stop? Should he wait until the end of the prayer time, or should he insert a cotton swab and pray? And if he leaves out of necessity and returns after the prayer time has ended and the discharge has stopped, is he required to repeat the prayer?

If the discharge is continuous without interruption, then the person's ruling is that of someone with incontinence (sahib al-salas); they should take precautions, perform ablution (wudu') after the time for prayer begins, and then pray. However, if they know a specific time when the discharge stops, allowing enough time for purification and prayer, then they must wait for that time, perform istinja' (cleansing), wudu', and pray. Ablution performed before the prayer time begins is not valid in either case. If the prayer time begins and the person has incontinence, they should perform ablution immediately and pray without waiting for the discharge to stop, and they are not required to repeat the prayer. As for someone who knows the time when the discharge stops, they must wait for it, and it is not permissible for them to pray before the discharge ceases. The Maliki school of thought offers leniency in the ruling for someone with incontinence and regarding the removal of impurity.
