The obligatory maintenance for a wife and children includes food, clothing, and housing. The wife has no right to prevent her husband from spending on his mother and sisters; rather, she should encourage him to do so, as it brings reward and expands provision, because maintaining kinship ties is among the most beloved deeds to Allah, and it contributes to the abundance of sustenance and a long life. As for marrying a second wife, it is permissible if the husband is able to provide maintenance, good companionship, and justice.
