What is the expiation for an ensnaring oath (al-yamin al-ghamūs), and is expiation obligatory for it or not?

We did not mention in Fatwa no. 59284 the obligation of combining repentance and expiation for a false oath (yameen ghamoos), but rather we stated that this is more cautious.

It is permissible to adopt the fatwa of the majority that there is no expiation for a false oath, but only repentance. There is no sin in doing so, even though the more cautious approach is more complete and superior.
