Is the name "Nurhan" – meaning "light of the sun" and of Indian origin – permissible for a Muslim girl to be named?

A Muslim's name must be in harmony with their creed. It is not permissible to bear a name that carries a meaning contrary to the creed, such as servitude to other than Allah or glorification of pagan deities. If the name "Nourhan" does not symbolize anything from the meanings of the pre-Islamic era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) and is not related to Hindu deities, then there is no objection to naming with it. However, it is preferable to choose good and righteous names, such as the names of prophets and companions.
