Some people have called Ali bin Fudayl bin Iyad the "martyr of the Qur'an." He heard a reciter recite Allah's saying: "That He may recompense those who do evil for what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward]," whereupon he gasped and fell unconscious. His father, Fudayl, said: "My father be sacrificed for the martyr of the Qur'an." This title was also mentioned as being given to a young man from the Azd tribe who fell unconscious upon hearing the verses of "And warn them of the Day of the Imminent [Doom]." "Martyr of the Qur'an" can be applied to more than one person, and it indicates the profound effect of the glorious Qur'an on tender hearts.
