Are the expenses I bear for raising my wife's orphaned son counted as Zakat al-Mal?

It is permissible to give Zakat to a poor child whose father cannot provide for him, even if you are donating to his upkeep. A condition for Zakat to be valid is the intention at the time of giving it, and the child should possess the Zakat money in kind, not as a value.
