Is communication between a young man and a young woman over the internet—without voice or video calls or meetings, and with ordinary text conversations—prohibited or merely disliked (makrooh)?

It is permissible for a man and a woman to engage in dialogue via electronic correspondence, provided that it adheres to Islamic guidelines and uses polite language, while being cautious not to be lenient in it, for fear of being enticed by Satan and falling into temptation. A woman must not converse with men except in open forums, and she should avoid using the Internet alone unless she is certain of its benefit.
