The question

Should one ignore the whispers of not completing the tasleem in prayer, even in congregational prayer? Is it permissible to shorten the prayer when performing it in congregation for travelers, and if not, is it obligatory to repeat it when the number of rak'ahs is not remembered?

The answer

We advise you to turn away from the whispers of not saying the or saying it incorrectly. Do not pay them any attention, and do not repeat the Taslim unless you are certain that you did not say it. As for congregational prayer during travel, the preponderant opinion is that it is recommended. If your journey is one where shortening the prayer is permissible, then you may pray in congregation while shortening the four-rak'ah prayer. If your journey is not one where shortening the prayer is permissible, then it is not legislated for you to shorten the prayer, whether in congregation or individually. If you do so, the prayer is invalid and must be repeated.
