Am I obligated to obey my mother and trim my curly beard from the sides and bottom, or should I leave it as it is, knowing that I have tried to remove the curls with oils without success?

It is forbidden to shave the beard or trim it, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded us to grow it and leave it full, saying: "Be different from the polytheists; grow your beards and trim your mustaches." This command necessitates obligation, and what some people do by shaving the beard or trimming it is not permissible due to its contravention of the guidance of the Messenger (peace be upon him). The obligation is to leave it full, grow it, let it hang down, and not interfere with it in any way. It is not permissible for anyone to order another to shave his beard or shorten it, and a Muslim is bound to obey the Messenger (peace be upon him).
