What should I do about my attraction to men, despite my commitment to prayer, the Quran, and remembrance of God, as I am in a constant struggle between my attempts to suppress my sexual life and what I feel from societal pressure and my desire for stability, to the extent that I think of suicide or committing an abomination?

One is advised to strive against the self and overcome blameworthy character, and to occupy one's time with acts of obedience, for Allah Almighty says: "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life." One is also advised to associate with righteous people and abandon those of corruption, for a companion influences his companion, and "A person is on the religion of his intimate friend." And one is advised to marry, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O young people, whoever among you can afford to marry, let him do so, for it is more lowering to the gaze and more protective of the private parts. And whoever is not able, then let him fast, for it will be a shield for him."
